Sophia (robot)

          SOPHIA (ROBOT)

Sophia is a humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. It has been designed to respond to questions, and has been interviewed around the world. In October 2017, the robot became a Saudi Arabian citizen, the first robot to receive citizenship of any country.
Sophia was activated on April 19, 2015. The robot is modeled after actress Audrey Hepburn, and is known for its human-like appearance and behavior compared to previous robotic variants. According to the manufacturer, David Hanson, Sophia uses artificial intelligence, visual data processing and facial recognition. Sophia also imitates human gestures and facial expressions and is able to answer certain questions and to make simple conversations on predefined topics (e.g. on the weather).
The robot uses voice recognition technology from Alphabet Inc. (parent company of Google) and is designed to get smarter over time. Sophia's intelligence software is designed by SingularityNET. The AI program analyses conversations and extracts data that allows it to improve responses in the future.
Hanson designed Sophia to be a suitable companion for the elderly at nursing homes, or to help crowds at large events or parks. He hopes that the robot can ultimately interact with other humans sufficiently to gain social skills.

BigQuery

                                                              Big Query

BigQuery is a RESTful web service that enables interactive analysis of massively large datasets working in conjunction with Google Storage. It is an Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS).
Managing data - create and delete tables based on a JSON-encoded schema, import data encoded as CSV or JSON from Google Storage.
Query - the queries are expressed in a standard SQL dialect and the results are returned in JSON with a maximum reply length of approximately 128 MB, or an unlimited size when large query results are enabled.
Integration - BigQuery can be used from Google Apps Script, Google Spreadsheets, or any language that can work with its REST API or client libraries.
Access control - is possible to share datasets with arbitrary individuals, groups, or the world.

An Exploration of Data Mining and Machine Learning Methods

The wired networks prove to have more layers of defense at firewalls, operating systems and networks. This makes them less vulnerable to attacks than wireless networks, but still a target for cybersecurity issues.
Methods of data mining and machine learning are very complex and pose challenges for understanding when and how each should be used. The complexity of algorithms also make it harder to tell which method will be most effective when dealing with cybersecurity attacks.
When determining the effectiveness of the methods, there are many criteria that must be taken into account. They include accuracy, complexity, time for classifying an unknown instance with a trained model, and understandability of the final solution of each machine learning or data mining method.
There are three types of cyber analysis that work with an intrusion detection system: misuse-based, anomaly-based, and hybrid. Misuse-based are used to detect known attacks based on the signatures of those types of attacks. Anomaly-based techniques identify anomalies in normal behavior and can detect zero-day attacks. Hybrid techniques combine misuse and anomaly detection. They can detect both known and unknown attacks while having a small false positive rate.

Data in DNA !!!

Researchers at Harvard have inserted images into the DNA of a living bacteria to demonstrate the possibilities for long-term data storage. Storing digital information in a molecule that is invisible to the naked eye could be the future of data storage.
While all of our family photos, music and movies currently need to be stored on physical devices, researchers hope that one day you will be able to store your data by embedding it into your skin. To test this idea, the researchers used a gene-editing system, and inserted a short animated image (GIF) into the genomes of living Escherichia coli bacteria. They took each individual pixel and converted them into nucleotides.
The researchers inserted the GIF into in the bacteria in five frames and then were able to retrieve it by sequencing the bacterial DNA and reading the nucleotide code. This experiment worked with 90 percent accuracy, although it is specific to bacteria.
IEEE Life Fellow and 2017 IEEE Medal of Honor recipient Kees Schouhamer Immink explains, “Imagine that you could store the whole Internet in a device as large as a pint of beer. Impossible? DNA-based storage has the potential to realize this in practice due to its unique features of density and durability. Surely, there are some planning problems to be tackled, but both the DNA potential and the need for low-cost storage are so huge, these challenges are sure to be met.”
Other scientists have researched DNA for storage because it can still be sequenced after hundreds of years. They used synthetic DNA instead of living cells for the sake of longevity as living cells are always changing or dying off, making it a challenge to host data. Using living bacteria is better protection for data because it can thrive in high temperature environments or even after nuclear exposure.

Evolving Trend: AUTOMATION

                                            AUTOMATION

Automation or automatic control, is the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery, processes in factories, boilers and heat treating ovens, switching on telephone networks, steering and stabilization of ships, aircraft and other applications and vehicles with minimal or reduced human intervention, with some processes have been completely automated.
Automation has been achieved by various means including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic devices and computers, usually in combination. Complicated systems, such as modern factories, airplanes and ships typically use all these combined techniques. The benefit of automation include labor savings, savings in electricity costs, savings in material costs, and improvements to quality, accuracy and precision.
